This Privacy Policy explains how Cooler Alert (“we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit cooleralert.com (the “Site”). It covers this website only. It does not cover the Cooler Alert monitoring service itself, including our sensors, mobile app and online dashboard.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

You don’t need to give us any personal information to browse the Site. We collect it only when you choose to send it to us:

  • Contact form: your first name, email address, phone number and message.
  • Sign-up form: your name, business name, email address, phone number, address and the package you select.
  • Email or phone: whatever you include when you contact us directly.

If you make a payment through the Site, it is processed by our payment processor, Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe, and we don’t receive or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, our analytics and security tools automatically collect some information, including:

  • Your IP address and approximate location (city or region)
  • Your browser, device type and operating system
  • The pages you view, how long you stay, and how you arrived (for example, from a search engine or another website)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your questions and requests for information or quotes
  • Process sign-ups and follow up with you about them
  • Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it
  • Protect the Site from spam, fraud and attacks
  • Comply with legal obligations

We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. Services That Help Run the Site

We use a small number of outside services to run the Site. Each one receives only the information it needs to do its job:

  • Website hosting: Hostinger hosts the Site and its database, which stores form submissions.
  • Email: form submissions are emailed to our team through our email provider.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics shows us how visitors find and use the Site. It uses cookies and receives your IP address and your activity on the Site.
  • Payments: Stripe processes any payments made through the Site.
  • Security and performance: security and caching services screen traffic for spam and attacks and deliver Site files quickly. These services process IP addresses.
  • Embedded features: the Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, displays our Google reviews through a Trustindex widget, and links to Google Calendar for scheduling and Google Maps for directions. When these features load or you use them, Google or Trustindex may receive your IP address.

These providers have their own privacy policies. We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. The Site uses:

  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics (their names start with “_ga”), which tell us how many people visit and which pages they use.
  • Payment and fraud-prevention cookies from Stripe, which may be set on pages with a payment form.
  • Essential cookies that keep the Site working and secure, such as login cookies for Site administrators.

We don’t use cookies for targeted advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; most of the Site will still work, but we won’t be able to count your visit. You can also opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

5. How Long We Keep Information

We keep form submissions and related emails for as long as we need them to respond to you and manage any business relationship that follows, and then for a reasonable period for our records or as the law requires. Google Analytics data is kept for a limited period set in our account, after which Google deletes it.

6. Security

The Site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we take reasonable administrative and technical steps to protect the information you send us. No website or method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information you’ve given us through the Site
  • Ask us to correct information that’s inaccurate or incomplete
  • Ask us to delete your information, unless we need to keep it for legal reasons
  • Stop receiving marketing emails from us

If we send you marketing emails, you can opt out at any time by replying “unsubscribe” or contacting us. To make any other request, contact us using the details below.

9. Links to Other Websites

The Site links to websites and services we don’t control, such as Google Calendar and Google Maps. We aren’t responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
